The Champion of Opportunity, Representation, and Excellence (CORE) Award recognizes a Society member who, throughout their career as a clinician, educator, or investigator, has made outstanding contributions either to expanding access to vital treatments for infectious diseases or to making the field of pediatric infectious diseases more inclusive.
Nominations are now closed. The deadline to nominate was June 15.
Eligibility & Criteria
- Nominee must be a PIDS member in good standing who has completed fellowship training (any career stage thereafter)
- Primary nominator can be a member from any career stage
- Letter of nomination should describe the nominee’s contributions to addressing health disparities through clinical care, research, advocacy, or education at the regional, national, or international level, including any initiatives within PIDS
- Current CV
Examples of meritorious activity:
- Initiatives within PIDS that advanced member access and engagement
- Creating pathways for students and trainees
- Regional, national, or international initiatives that promote access to underserved populations
- Research that advanced the care of underserved populations
- Advocacy at the state, national, or international level
